Biography
Amanda Derbyshire is a sport and exercise scientist and researcher at the University of Western Australia, and the driving force behind the development and growth of KIDDO. Since launching the program in 2014, Amanda has overseen its evolution into a national initiative now used by over 1,700 schools across Australia.
A leader in physical literacy implementation, Amanda has been instrumental in designing and validating KIDDO’s Fundamental Movement Skill assessment, which has been used to assess more than 120,000 children since 2019. She also led the creation of the Certificate of Physical Literacy, a world-leading and evidence-based professional development course that has helped thousands of educators and coaches build confidence in teaching movement skills and confidence to be active.
Amanda is widely respected for her ability to translate research into practical, effective strategies that educators can use to support children’s development of gross motor skills and movement confidence. Her work bridges the gap between evidence and practice, supporting schools and educators to create active, engaging learning environments that promote lifelong participation in physical activity.
