This session is designed for coaches, teachers, and educators who work with teenage girls in sport. Blending theory and practice, it explores how to reignite and sustain girls’ passion for participation in a sporting landscape often shaped by internal and external pressures.
We begin with a focused look at the unique challenges teenage girls face in sport, ranging from motivation dips and peer influence to confidence and judgement. This part of the session will offer insight into how these factors can impact engagement and enjoyment, and what you can do to positively shape their experience.
The remainder of the session is active and practical. You’ll take part in a series of adaptable, high-energy activities drawn from territory (invasion)-based sports like AFL, basketball, netball, and soccer. These games are designed to build skills, foster team connection, and encourage enjoyment.
