Leah Bisian is a highly skilled MHlthSc/Dip Bus/RN1/Dementia and Aged Care Consultant, with over 35 years’ experience in aged /dementia support.

Her work aims at redefining and reconceptualising dementia, cultivating an expansive, respectful view of every person who lives with a diagnosis of dementia (PLWD), through the provision of equal care partnerships based on remaining assets, rehabilitative support for acquired cognitive disabilities, and a unified voice of advocacy upholding individual autonomy.
This, her primary area of expertise, has focused on designing superior bio-psychosocial models of support, responsive to the specific partialities of each PLWD.

Leah has won ‘Australian’, and ‘Global’, “Excellence in Innovation” awards, by successfully demonstrating how reconsidering the medical paradigm and creating communities and environments in which PLWD continue to thrive, facilitates preservation of life based on recognition of self, championing the importance of valuing personhood, identity and distinctive uniqueness.

Leah distributes her evidence-based research, studies, and papers, within the medical field, aged care sector and community, dispelling the prejudice and stigma associated with dementia, and influencing sensitive, empathetic, bias-free attitudes.

As her reputation as an innovator evolved, Leah commenced working predominantly in consulting, clinical advisory, research, education/learning, and development, striving to inspire aged care services and local communities to create meaningful, shared experiences that transform dementia understanding, expanding upon a more compassionately affiliated future for all PLWD.

Leah’s life’s work transfigures cultures and philosophies of support, providing a powerful narrative confronting current practice, forging an inclusive vantage point removing all forms of marginalisation and discrimination, thus consequently upholds the human rights of all PLWD.
Her pioneering revelations have enabled PLWD to attain enriched lifestyles, and furthermore, successfully empowered, and motivated humanity to embrace her dreams of change.
