Biography
Trudy Thompson is a Project Officer with Healthy Places at Cancer Council Victoria and a part-time lecturer at Deakin University. In her role with Healthy Places, she works alongside schools and early childhood services to embed health and wellbeing into everyday practice through a whole-setting approach informed by the World Health Organization and UNESCO’s Health Promoting Schools framework. She supports education settings to build on their existing strengths, using an evidence-informed framework, practical action guides and tailored support to achieve lasting improvements in health, wellbeing and learning outcomes for children and young people.
As a lecturer in public health, health promotion, and health and physical education, Trudy brings over 14 years of experience across school and tertiary education settings. At Deakin University, she teaches health education and student wellbeing, with a strong focus on Health Promoting Schools and contemporary, strengths-based pedagogies that support meaningful engagement and learning.
Trudy has collaborated with schools, government initiatives and health organisations to implement inclusive, evidence-based health and wellbeing approaches. She is committed to empowering educators, students and families through practical, research-informed strategies that strengthen both learning and lifelong wellbeing.
