Session Description
What do Sam Kerr, Scott Pendlebury, Ellyse Perry, Roger Federer and Michael Jordan have in common? Their development was shaped by varied movement experiences rather than a narrow focus on one sport or training method. Lauren Hanna brings 20 years of experience in physiotherapy, rehabilitation, strength and conditioning, athletic development and high-performance sport. Through her work with developing and elite athletes, Lauren has seen firsthand what supports adaptable movement, sustained performance and long-term participation. In this practical and curriculum-aligned session, Lauren will translate these experiences into creative approaches for designing Years 9–10 physical activity programs. Participants will explore how to design, implement and evaluate personalised programs that align with the Australian Curriculum Version 9.0 and the Victorian Curriculum F–10 Version 2.0. Drawing on real sporting examples, physical development research and curriculum expectations, Lauren will challenge teachers to move beyond one-size-fits-all fitness programs. Participants will consider how students can establish meaningful goals, select and justify appropriate activities, monitor their progress and evaluate the impact of their programs on fitness, health and wellbeing. This session will provide HPE teachers with practical, evidence-informed ideas for creating engaging physical activity programs that build capable, confident and adaptable lifelong movers.
