Building Scalable Strength & Conditioning Programs in High Schools

Session Description

This session explores how schools can successfully implement Strength & Conditioning (S&C) programs to enhance student health, athletic development, and lifelong engagement in physical activity. Drawing on experience across schools, academies, and national sporting organisations, this workshop provides two practical, scalable models for implementation: A 4-week introductory S&C block within Physical Education, designed to build foundational movement skills, confidence, and safe training habits. A long-term athletic development pathway, delivered before, during, or after school, supporting ongoing student progression and performance. Participants will gain insight into how to introduce structured S&C without overwhelming staff or requiring extensive resources. The session will break down key components including movement competency, strength development, speed and agility, and program progression, all aligned with curriculum outcomes and student wellbeing. Practical strategies will be shared to support differentiation, engagement, and inclusion across a wide range of student abilities, from beginners to aspiring athletes. Attendees will leave with clear frameworks, session structures, and implementation strategies that can be immediately applied within their own school context. This session aligns with the MOVE Victoria theme by empowering educators to lead active futures through purposeful movement, building stronger, more confident, and physically literate students.
