Ray currently lectures in Health and Physical Education at Federation University (Berwick). He is best known for his teaching, coaching and research in game-based approaches, such as game sense. Ray has published multiple papers and written two books in game sense, the most recent titled "Developing game sense in Physical Education and Sport" (2021, Human Kinetics). He has presented at many national and international conferences and has conducted PD sessions for many schools and teachers over the past 20+ years. Ray recently lectured in exercise science and coaching pedagogy at Swinburne University and has previously held Head of PE and sport positions at two Melbourne schools.
