This session dives into effective assessment design for Units 1–4 HHD, focusing on the range of task types available to teachers and how they can be applied to enhance student learning and achievement. Participants will explore the intent behind different assessment task types, strategies to balance formative and summative tasks, and approaches to align tasks with the 2025 HHD Study Design outcomes and key knowledge/skills. Key themes include aligning assessment with curriculum requirements, scaffolding student progression from Unit 1 to Unit 4, and unpacking practical examples of task types such as case studies, data analysis, structured questions, multimedia presentations, extended responses, and media analysis. By the end of the session, teachers will be equipped with strategies to design valid, reliable, and engaging assessments that support progression and exam readiness.
