Name
F.14 Reimagining Professional Learning Communities: Leading Effective and Impactful Teacher Development
Date & Time
Friday, November 21, 2025, 12:50 PM - 1:50 PM
Description

Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) hold great promise for fostering collaborative, context-driven teacher learning. Yet, despite widespread recognition of their value, many teachers report limited access to meaningful or effective professional development (PD). This session bridges that gap.

Drawing on my experience facilitating PLCs across diverse international contexts, I will share key insights and practical recommendations for educators and leaders aiming to establish or strengthen PLCs in their schools or regions. Through interactive discussions and hands-on activities, participants will explore strategies for designing PD that is relevant, engaging, and sustainable.

This session is particularly valuable for Health and Physical Education teachers, heads of HPE departments, and school leaders seeking to create impactful professional learning cultures. By the end, you’ll be equipped and inspired to lead PLCs that truly support teacher growth and school improvement.

Learning Objective
By the end of this session, you will be able to:
• Initiate and support the development of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) within your school or region.
• Critically compare the core principles of PLCs with existing professional development practices in your context.
• Identify key enablers and obstacles that influence the development and sustainability of PLCs.
