This dynamic and hands-on professional learning session is designed specifically for Primary School Physical Education teachers, focusing on practical strategies to get students moving, engaged, and excited about physical activity. Centred around improving Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS), the session introduces innovative ways to embed thematic elements and gamification into everyday PE lessons.
Participants will actively take part in a series of energetic, easy-to-implement games and activities that align with the developmental needs of primary-aged children. Through the lens of popular themes such as Pokemon, Superheroes and more, teachers will explore how narrative and play-based approaches can enhance motivation, participation, and skill acquisition.
The session will also demonstrate how simple game mechanics like point systems, levels, challenges, and rewards can transform skill-based drills into immersive experiences that promote physical literacy. By focusing on core FMS such as running, jumping, catching, throwing, and balancing, teachers will leave with a toolkit of engaging activities that support both individual progress and inclusive group participation.
Increase student participation and motivation in physical activity by using narrative-driven and game-based learning strategies that support physical literacy.
