Date & Time

Description

Join us for an interactive session exploring how Athletes for Hope Australia partners with some of Australia’s top athletes to inspire students to become the next generation of volunteers, changemakers, and community leaders, through the power and connection of sport.

You’ll hear directly from WNBL athlete, AFHA Athlete and secondary teacher Aimie Rocci, AFHA’s Chief Impact Officer Julia Symons and Executive Officer of Girls Sport Victoria, Michelle Barry, as they share stories and case studies of AFHA workshops that have supported young people to find purpose beyond the pitch, pool or park.

Together, they’ll share how this program has inspired and empowered students to implement meaningful community initiatives in their schools and beyond, from fundraising for mental health causes to raising gender equality awareness.

Attendees will step into the shoes of workshop participants as they explore how game-based and reflective activities help students build self-awareness and recognise their capacity to drive positive change in their teams, schools, and communities. The session also unpacks how AFHA workshops embed teamwork and communication skills, culminating in students creating their own unique community leadership plan.

AFHA is a registered Australian charity that inspires and connects athletes, charities and communities to create impact together. Through engaging workshops and programming, AFHA has supported more than 500 athletes in the past 12 months aged 14+ years across regional and metro areas to explore the role they can play as leaders to give back to the charities, causes and communities that matter most to them.
