In this theory-focused session, we’ll tackle the core energy systems content in Unit 3 with clarity and purpose. Designed to strengthen teacher understanding and delivery of one of the most assessed areas of the VCE PE study design, this session will support you in confidently teaching key characteristics such as rate, yield, and matching these with performance characteristics such as intensity and duration. We'll examine how to clearly define and scaffold these ideas so students can understand, retain, and apply them successfully under exam conditions.

A key feature of this session will be a deep dive into energy system interplay. We’ll break down what high-quality responses look like, how to scaffold student writing, and how to move students from surface descriptions to analytical, assessment-aligned responses. You’ll also gain insight into how to design assessment that truly reflects the intent of the study design and prepare students to answer interplays in a variety of contexts.
