Dona Jayakody is an Associate Professor in Audiology at the WA Centre for Rural Health, University of Western Australia. She also holds an Adjunct Associate Professorship at Curtin University and serves as an Editor for the journal Aging Clinical and Experimental Research.

Her research has advanced the understanding of the broad health impacts of hearing loss in older adults, with a particular focus on cognition and mental well-being. This work has directly informed clinical guidelines and policy at both national and international levels. She led the landmark HearCog clinical trial, which investigated the effects of hearing rehabilitation in older adults at risk of dementia.

Her contributions to the field have been recognised through 14 awards, including Superstar of STEM, STEM Ambassador, and Tall Poppy in Science-WA. She has secured more than $7.2 million in competitive research funding, authored over 70 publications (with more than 2,100 citations and an i10-index of 30), and presented at over 80 national and international conferences.
