Dr Victoria Perchyonok is an Oral Health Therapist (Adult Scope), researcher, and Clinical Lecturer at the University of Melbourne with a strong focus on preventative and community-based oral health care. Dr Perchyonok co-leads the Smart Smiles Initiative alongside Dental Prosthetist Rachael Starr, a community-driven program designed to integrate oral health into routine aged care through education, early intervention, and minimally invasive treatment approaches. The initiative focuses on empowering care staff, supporting families, and delivering practical, person-centred oral health solutions that prioritise comfort, dignity, and quality of life.
Her clinical and academic work bridges the gap between oral health and general health, with particular interest in dementia care, Motor Neurone Disease, and chronic disease management. Dr Perchyonok is actively involved in developing innovative education programs for healthcare professionals and contributes to research and publications focused on improving oral health outcomes in vulnerable populations.
