Robyn Lewis is a full time PhD candidate in the Centre for Ageing Research and Translation, Faculty of Health, University of Canberra. Robyn's PhD is supported by Community Home Australia.
Robyn’s PhD focuses on the perspectives, challenges and opportunities associated with small-scale residential dementia care. She is hoping that her research findings will contribute to making a difference to the quality of life for people living with dementia, reduce the burden for family carers, improve the experience of staff working in residential dementia care and provide guidance for organisations to deliver this innovative model of care.
When not researching, Robyn is a senior yoga teacher and therapist and runs a small business in Canberra, sharing yoga with groups and individual clients. Her interest in holistic health, accessibility and self-regulation have provided opportunities for practices in aged, dementia and disability care settings, school, corporate and correctional settings. She delivers presentations and practices at conferences and events and delivers post graduate training to other yoga teachers. Post PhD, Robyn is hopeful to combine her interests with research related to ageing, disability, dementia and holistic health, alongside her business activities.
In 2024, Robyn received an RM Gibson award to support the Case Series exploring the experience of living and working in small-scale residential dementia care in Australia.
