At the Seventy-third World Health Assembly, WHO Member States declared 2021–2030 the UN Decade of Healthy Ageing. This poster presents an innovative mapping of Australia's ageing research and policy actions in alignment with the nine outcome domains of the Decade of Healthy Ageing Monitoring & Evaluation Framework. The aim is to evaluate Australia's progress against the Decade's objectives, providing a comprehensive overview of our advancements and areas requiring further effort.
All AAG members will be invited to identify activities relating to multiple sub-indicators derived from the WHO indicator compendium, using the Australian Association of Gerontology (AAG) online community as information gathering platform. These responses will be aggregated and presented on the draft map.
Conference attendees will be encouraged to annotate the map to reflect the diverse activities occurring across Australia. This collaborative effort will illustrate Australia's progress while pinpointing areas needing more focus. The overarching goal is to combine the forces and expertise of AAG members to gain actionable insights and to drive progress throughout the Decade of Healthy Ageing in alignment with the UN's objectives.
Looking forward to 2030, these efforts will strategically position AAG to showcase effective ageing well strategies at the next Global Congress of the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics, to be held in Sydney. That congress can showcase local and global healthy ageing strategies, highlight the achievements of the UN Decade, and set a legacy agenda for the years to come.
