Presentation Format

Global and national priorities emphasise the importance of early recognition and diagnosis of cognitive decline and dementia to support timely and effective intervention. Digital tools offer a scalable approach to promote brain health awareness and timely help-seeking. To address this need, Dementia Australia launched BrainTrack in 2022, an engaging and freely available mobile application designed to educate users about brain health, provide personalised insights into cognitive performance, and encourage timely help-seeking. This presentation will describe the design and implementation of BrainTrack, developed through a collaborative, user-informed process involving researchers, clinicians, and consumers. An overview of key features of BrainTrack will be provided, including the engaging travel-themed games, longitudinal tracking, and tailored feedback to support user engagement and interpretation of results. Key design considerations will be outlined, including accessibility, usability, and relevance for diverse populations, as well as implementation strategies to support uptake. Reflections on challenges and successes encountered in developing and scaling a digital tool to promote brain health awareness will also be shared. Lessons learned from the development and implementation of BrainTrack will be shared to inform future digital tool development in ageing and dementia contexts.
