Biography
Tesfaye T. Lemma, PhD is a Full Professor of Accounting at Towson University's College of Business and Economics, where he has been a faculty member since 2015. He holds a PhD in Accounting from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. A prolific and multiple award-winning scholar, his research spans corporate financing decisions, corporate governance, financial reporting, corporate environmental disclosures, and firm innovation. His work appears in leading academic journals including the British Accounting Review, International Review of Financial Analysis, Journal of Business Research, Small Business Economics, Finance Research Letters, Journal of Accounting Literature, Business Strategy and the Environment, and The World Economy, among others. He has served as President of the American Accounting Association's Mid-Atlantic Region (2023–2024), Associate Editor of Business Strategy and the Environment, and as an expert reviewer for the European Research Council, the U.S.-Polish Fulbright Commission, and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). Before joining Towson, Professor Lemma held faculty and administrative positions at the University of Limpopo (South Africa), the University of the District of Columbia, and Addis Ababa University (Ethiopia), where he also served as Associate/Acting Dean.
