Biography
Dr James Durl is a research fellow & lecturer at Griffith University, and lead workshop facilitator of Blurred Minds, an alcohol- and drug-education initiative that has received global acclaim for its youth vaping and nicotine prevention work (see ASH Scotland Evaluation 2026).

As a behavioural scientist and AOD prevention expert, James has spent the last 11 years ‘sharpening his saw’ and becoming a leading voice in vaping and other drug prevention in Australian schools.

Having also completed his PhD at the age of 26, he now carries this education forward to train and upskill new generations of critical thinking and impactful change agents.
In 2026, having personally educated over 40,000+ students, teachers & parents across Australia, James continues to expand his efforts to address vaping, alcohol & cannabis influences on young people'slives.
