Joanne Anderson (Ngāti Maniapoto, Ngāti Apakura) is a community-based teacher and Associate Principal with over 20 years of experience working with the Northern Health School, including 15 years in leadership and management roles. Her career has focused on supporting individuals to transition back to school with the support of their whānau (family), school and agencies through student-centred and inclusive approaches.
She has extensive experience working with mental health students across a range of ages, promoting wellbeing, resilience, and positive outcomes. Her professional background also includes one year working in Starship Hospital in Auckland and one year at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), London, where she gained valuable experience.
Joanne is passionate about student wellbeing and developing effective support systems for children and young people. She brings a wealth of frontline and management experience and is committed to sharing practical insights that contribute to improved outcomes and best practice across health and education.
