Biography
Kyra Dhedhi is a Youth Advocate, Peer Support Worker, and Independent Lived and Living Experience Worker. She is passionate about improving outcomes for people living with chronic illness, disability, mental health challenges, and other complex health conditions by ensuring lived experience is valued and included in decision-making. Over the past four years, Kyra has worked across advocacy, peer support, research, co-design, consultation, and system improvement projects. Her work focuses on chronic illness, disability, mental health, access and inclusion, family violence prevention, young carer initiatives, women's health, and equitable education.
Through both her professional work and lived experience, she advocates for more accessible, responsive, and person-centred services and systems. She regularly collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, including clinicians, researchers, educators, policymakers, and community organisations, to help embed lived experience perspectives into practice, research, and service design.
Kyra has worked with a range of organisations, including the Youth Disability Advocacy Service (YDAS), Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MCRI), Lived Experience Australia, Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS), and Little Dreamers Australia. She has contributed to research, advisory groups, workforce development initiatives, and projects aimed at creating positive change for consumers and communities.
As a speaker and facilitator, Kyra has presented to diverse audiences including young people, parents and carers, clinicians, educators, university students, researchers, and service providers. She is passionate about fostering understanding, challenging assumptions, and supporting meaningful change through the integration of lived experience perspectives.
Through all of her work, Kyra is committed to ensuring lived experience is not only heard but actively shapes the systems and services people rely on. Her goal is to help create more equitable, inclusive, and compassionate communities where everyone can access the support they need.
