Kate Walsh is a teacher and Team Leader at Stepping Stones, a specialist educational unit embedded within an acute adolescent mental health inpatient ward. With fifteen years of teaching experience, including extensive delivery across multiple year levels in a hospital school setting, Kate supports secondary-aged students navigating the intersection of complex mental health presentations and continued learning. Her work spans generalist and senior secondary curriculum, including five years as a VCE English assessor, reflecting her commitment to maintaining high educational expectations for students during hospitalisation. As Team Leader, Kate leads a multidisciplinary-informed teaching team whose practice is built on intentional collaboration with mental health clinicians to optimise student outcomes during and after admission. Kate is passionate about positioning education as an active and valued contributor within paediatric mental health care. Outside of work, Kate enjoys reading widely and staying active at the gym.
