Understanding the Manosphere and the Role of Schools

Session Description

The rise of online misogyny and manosphere culture is creating new challenges for schools, influencing the attitudes, beliefs and behaviours of some young people. In this timely keynote, Dr Stephanie Wescott draws on internationally recognised research to unpack the growing influence of these online communities and what they mean for classrooms, relationships and school culture.

Stephanie will explore why these messages resonate with some young people, how they can shape interactions within schools, and the important role educators play in recognising these influences and fostering respectful, inclusive learning environments. Rather than focusing solely on responding to incidents, this keynote considers how schools can build cultures that promote healthy relationships, critical thinking and gender equity.

This keynote will leave educators with a deeper understanding of one of the most significant emerging issues facing schools today and greater confidence in the role education can play in preventing gender-based harm.
