Participation and Inclusion- building inclusive, engaged and thriving communities.
Session Description
This interactive, evidence-informed workshop equips educators with practical strategies, tools and resources to create inclusive Health and Physical Education environments where all children can meaningfully participate. Grounded in best practice from paediatric allied health and aligned with the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, the session focuses on evidence-based approaches that can be immediately implemented within physical education, school sport and interschool competition settings.
Through practical examples, case studies and collaborative activities, participants will explore how to adapt activities, implement reasonable adjustments and create inclusive learning environments that support meaningful participation for all students. Educators will develop a deeper understanding of the building blocks of development, alongside the "hardware" (physical access, equipment and environmental considerations) and the "software" (attitudes, language and systemic structures) that influence participation and engagement.
With a focus on Foundation to Year 6 physical education and school sport, participants will leave with a practical toolbox of inclusive strategies, adaptable teaching approaches and resources that can be embedded into everyday practice. The workshop will build confidence in recognising and responding to diverse learning needs while fostering positive, inclusive sporting experiences for every child.
