Thinking Outside the Box: Decision-points and AI prompts to enhance rubric design and use in Health and Physical Education
Session Description
This workshop complements the earlier workshop that described David’s mixed-methods research into the assessment practices of Victorian secondary school PE teachers in the context of invasion games and sports. This session focuses on participants’ application of a Rubric Design and Use framework to examine and re-imagine rubrics in HPE. The framework outlines key decision points in rubric design and use, and provides literature‑informed recommendations for effective rubric construction and application. It also describes the outcomes of a 2026 feasibility study of the framework conducted with one Victorian P-12 school. Attendees are encouraged to bring any assessment rubrics they currently use in PE.
