'That's a good question' - Developing and assessing written reports & extended response tasks in VCE HHD & VCE PE

Session Description

This session provides some ideas on how to construct compliant, rigorous and engaging written reports and extended response tasks. Guidance will be provided on how to use a VCAA performance descriptor to develop a task specific rubric. Examples will be provided across both VCE HHD and VCE PE, with the underlying principles able to be applied in both studies.

- How written report tasks and extended response tasks provide an accessible means for assessing student achievement, whilst also developing applicable skills needed for the examination
- What is expected of the structure of written reports and extended response tasks in VCE HHD and VCE PE
- How to use an over arching question to support the structure of the task and assist in scaffolding student responses
- How to use the VCAA performance descriptor to construct an appropriate, task specific rubric
