Health literacy is not only a proposition of the HPE curriculum, but also the set of personal skills and capacities we want our young people to derive from their experience with health education curriculum that enables them to find, understand, appraise and use health information. Health literacy is a critical determinant of health, hence we as HPE educators have an important responsibility to continue to advocate for and provide quality access to our health curriculum. This session will look at how the elements of the health strand of the Victorian Curriculum can be used to deliver units of work that prioritise health literacy, whilst also looking at examples of health education resources that embed health literacy that can help deliver health education curriculum.
