Run, Jump, Throw - Youth Athletics
Session Description
Participants will develop the skills to teach fundamental movement patterns including running, jumping and throwing, while promoting physical literacy, confidence and enjoyment in sport. This session focuses on creating engaging, inclusive and developmentally appropriate coaching environments using a games-based approach for track and field.
Learning Outcomes
• Understand the stages of early athlete development and the principles of coaching children aged 3–12 years.
• Apply a games-based coaching approach to engage young athletes and support learning.
• Develop and teach fundamental movement skills including running, jumping and throwing.
• Create safe, inclusive and positive training environments that encourage participation and enjoyment.
