Ellie Newman is Director of Dementia Training Australia (DTA), based at The University of Western Australia, where she leads national initiatives to strengthen workforce capability and improve the quality of dementia care across health, aged care, and community sectors. Through this role, she provides strategic leadership for evidence-based education, professional development, and system-wide approaches that support better outcomes for people living with dementia, their families, and care partners.
She also serves as Director of Allied Health and Ambulatory Care at Armadale Kalamunda Group and Dementia Lead for the East Metropolitan Health Service (EMHS). Ellie is widely recognised for her leadership in advancing dementia-inclusive care within health services and played a key role in establishing EMHS as Australia's first dementia-inclusive health service.
With extensive experience across allied health leadership, workforce development, service redesign, education, and health system improvement, Ellie works at the intersection of policy, practice, and workforce capability. She is a passionate advocate for dementia-inclusive systems and for ensuring the voices of people living with dementia, families, carers, volunteers, and the workforce inform service design, education, and care delivery.
