Dr Guogui Huang is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Health Systems and Safety Research within the Australian Institute of Health Innovation at Macquarie University. His research focuses on ageing, population health, and health services, with particular expertise in residential aged care, quality of life, and the application of digital health technologies.
Dr Huang holds dual PhDs in Demography from Peking University and Macquarie University. He has a strong track record in quantitative research, specialising in longitudinal data analysis, epidemiological methods, and population modelling. His work has been widely published in high-impact peer-reviewed journals, contributing to evidence on ageing, migrant health, and care quality. His recent research includes large-scale studies on medication use in aged care, falls prevention, and the development and evaluation of digital decision-support tools such as MQ-Dash. He has also led systematic reviews and bibliometric analyses examining interventions to improve quality of life in long-term care settings.
Beyond research, Dr Huang is actively engaged in academic service. He serves as an Editor for BMC Geriatrics and as an Associate Editor for the Australasian Journal on Ageing. He collaborates closely with aged care providers and policymakers to translate research findings into practice, particularly through co-design approaches.
Dr Huang has secured competitive research funding, including grants from the Medical Research Future Fund and Macquarie University. His work aims to improve the wellbeing of older adults and inform policy and practice in ageing and health systems.
