Kathryn Squires is a researcher at the National Ageing Research Institute and a PhD candidate in the School of Health and Social Development at Deakin University. Her PhD research examines the representation of older women in the media and its relationship to health and well-being.
Her research takes a feminist and intersectional approach to examining ageing and gender in the context of media representations.
She has previously worked extensively on innovative and translational research projects that support older people and those who work with them, including collaborative research exploring the ways Aboriginal community-controlled art centres support older artists, Elders and people living with dementia, and evidence-based resources for clinicians on the best practice care of older people in acute settings.
