Dr Elise Alexander is a Research Fellow and Project Coordinator at Boola Boola Jinda, Medical School, University of Western Australia, on Nyoongar Country. Elise is currently coordinating the investigation of a national NHMRC MRFF funded study to strengthen the utility of the only clinically and culturally validated dementia screen for older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This instrument, the Kimberley Indigenous Cognitive Assessment (KICA), is the gold standard for assessing older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cognition and is embedded in national health and aged care policy.
