Shelci Martin is a PhD candidate under the Health Innovation & Transformation Centre at Federation University, Australia. Her research focuses on the design and evaluation of digital mental health interventions (DMHIs) for middle-aged and older adults living with schizophrenia. Shelci's work critically examines the limitations of clinically oriented digital interventions and advocates for functionally oriented, co-designed approaches that centre autonomy, social connection, and recovery as defined by the individual. Her PhD research spans co-design methodology, digital personalisation, and the development of accessible mental health technologies for underserved populations. Her work aims to bridge the gap between lived experience and digital health innovation to improve everyday functioning and wellbeing in later life.
