Gwen Veltmeyer is a nurse academic at the University of the Sunshine Coast, teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate nursing programs. Her teaching includes the Gerontological Nursing Competencies Program, which supports registered nurses transitioning to practice in aged care. She is a member of the GNC Research and Development team, where she leads a capacity-building project focused on supporting practice nurses to deliver high-quality care to older adults in primary care settings.

Gwen has extensive experience across a range of clinical environments, with a particular focus on primary healthcare, healthy ageing, and the care and wellbeing of older adults in both community and residential care settings.

She holds postgraduate qualifications in nursing and education and is committed to advancing nursing education through fostering student success and promoting best practice in learning and teaching. Her work aims to provide engaging, supportive, and high-quality educational experiences.

Gwen is a member of the Australian College of Nursing (ACN), the Gerontological Alliance of Nurses Australia (GANA), and the Healthy Ageing Research Cluster (HARC).
