Rachel Sinanan is a PhD candidate in psychology at Federation University’s Industrial Transformation Training Centre for Optimal Ageing. Her research examines how adults aged 45 and over engage with increasingly digital and AI-mediated environments, with a focus on digital health literacy and inclusion. Drawing on an integrative psychological perspective, her work explores how cognitive, social, and contextual factors shape how individuals interpret, navigate, and respond to complex digital systems. Rachel’s research challenges traditional, skills-based models of digital literacy, advancing more dynamic, process-oriented understandings of engagement in contemporary health and information landscapes. She is actively involved in national collaborative research projects and has presented work at conferences including HERDSA and ANZAM.
