Kartik Patel is a Structural Engineer at the Department of Transport and Planning, leading digital and engineering initiatives that support safe and efficient Class‑1 heavy vehicle access across Victoria’s bridge network. His work focuses on modernising how structural risk, asset performance, and access decisions are managed, bringing together engineering principles, technology, and policy.

Kartik plays a central role in shaping the state’s move toward automated, data-driven permit processes and improved asset intelligence. He works closely with asset owners, senior leaders and technical partners to develop a nation-leading automated permit system that delivers consistent and future-ready bridge assessments.

His interests include load rating, structural health monitoring, carbon footprint reduction and strengthening compliance from the Heavy Vehicle industry across the network.
