Biography
David is currently a principal data scientist at WSP but has previously worked both in academic and industry roles for over 25 years. He has a PhD in computer vision and robotics from Monash University in Melbourne and a BSc in Computer Science and AI from Sussex University in England.
His work experience includes many real-world applications of machine learning and AI from retail banking to railway operations and in particular the use of ML for asset management, including both predictive and survival modelling of assets to predict maintenance events and failures necessitating renewal.
His research interests include continual few-shot learning, local and immediate credit assignment in neural networks and causal inference in historic data.
