Muhunthan is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in asset management, strategic planning, and lifecycle costing, spanning both private and local government sectors. Currently serving as the Strategic Asset Engineer for the City of Coast Transport team, he plays a pivotal role in shaping and implementing strategic asset management practices for the Transport branch. In his current role, Muhunthan oversees the development and delivery of comprehensive asset management plans for transport assets, including condition assessments, renewal forecasting, and asset revaluation. His expertise ensures the sustainability and efficiency of infrastructure by optimising asset performance throughout its Lifecycle. Muhunthan is deeply passionate about leveraging data, systems, and human capital to drive innovation and improve asset management outcomes. As an active member of the Southeast Queensland AI Community for Local Government, he contributes to advancing the integration of artificial intelligence and data-driven decision-making within the sector. His diverse background includes extensive experience in asset engineering and project management across various disciplines, including three waters (water supply, wastewater, and stormwater), solid waste management, and transport infrastructure. Muhunthan technical expertise is complemented by his operational acumen, particularly in renewal forecasting and strategic planning. A testament to his forward-thinking approach, he presented a feasibility study on harnessing onshore wave energy at the International Energy Conference in New Zealand in 2005, showcasing his ability to innovate and tackle complex challenges.
