Biography
Mr. Md. Rezaul Karim is a PhD candidate in Accounting and Finance at the University of Newcastle, Australia. He is currently serving as an Assistant Professor (on study leave) in the Department of Accounting at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Mr. Karim has demonstrated exceptional academic excellence, securing first position in all his academic programs from SSC to MBA. In recognition of his outstanding achievements, he has received several prestigious awards, including the Dean’s Honour, Dean’s Merit, the Prime Minister’s Gold Medal, and the President’s Gold Medal.
His areas of expertise include financial accounting, management accounting, financial management, auditing, and taxation. His research interests focus on accounting, auditing, accountability, and sustainability.
Mr. Karim has published 20 articles in reputable international journals, including Meditari Accountancy Research, China Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Environmental Management, Journal of Accounting in Emerging Economies, and Journal of Accounting & Organizational Change, among others. He has also secured competitive research funding totaling BDT 1,680,000 (approximately AUD 21,000) as a principal or co-investigator.
In addition to his research contributions, he serves as a reviewer for leading journals such as Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, Applied Economics, and Journal of the Knowledge Economy. Between 2016 and 2021, he actively participated in, coordinated, and presented at the International Conference on Business and Economics hosted by the University of Dhaka. In 2025, he attended the AFAANZ Doctoral Symposium, representing the University of Newcastle.
Mr. Karim aspires to become a globally recognized academic and researcher, contributing meaningfully to the advancement of knowledge in accounting and related fields.
