Biography
Yin Wang, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Accounting (Practice) and Co-Director of MSc in Accounting (Data & Analytics) at the Singapore Management University (SMU) School of Accountancy (SOA). He earned his PhD in Management Science (Accounting) from HEC Paris, under the doctoral school of the University of Paris-Saclay, and was a Visiting PhD Research Scholar at the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business. Prior to entering academia, he led a team as Manager in the Management Control Department at BNP Paribas in Paris, specializing in risk and finance within the leasing investment and financing business.
Dr. Wang has published research in Contemporary Accounting Research (CAR) and The Accounting Review (TAR), with a broad range of interests including disclosure and its real effects, advertising spill-over effects in capital markets, financial intermediaries, common ownership, ESG disclosure, insider trading, earnings management, regulation, and corporate governance. He has received multiple AAA FARS Midyear Meeting Excellence in Reviewing Awards and regularly serve as a referee for academic journals and conferences, and keynote speaker and discussant at conferences.
A recipient of multiple teaching awards at SMU, Dr. Wang is dedicated to teaching Financial Accounting, Financial Reporting and Analysis, Financial Statement Analysis, Private Equity, Valuation, and Corporate Advisory across both undergraduate, postgraduate and executive programs. His courses have been recognized as exemplary models for junior faculty and PhD students.
