Biography
Dania Sarraj is a PhD candidate at La Trobe Business School. She holds a Master of Business (Accounting) with Honours from Auckland University of Technology (2018), where she also completed a Graduate Diploma in Business. Her master’s thesis, “Examining Materiality in Sustainability Reporting: Evidence from GCC Countries,” reflects her strong interest in corporate transparency and sustainability reporting. She also holds a Graduate Diploma in Project Management from the Southern Institute of Technology, a Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching from Open Polytechnic, and a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) in Accountancy from the University of Damascus. She is a provisional member of CPA Australia.
Dania’s professional experience spans academia, accounting, financial services, and executive recruitment across Australia and New Zealand. She has provided accounting services at New Ability Services, strengthening her expertise in financial reporting and compliance, and has taught Business and Accounting at Open Polytechnic. In addition, she is involved in executive medical recruitment through DR MED Recruitment, working with healthcare providers to deliver workforce solutions.
Her research focuses on corporate governance, sustainability reporting, and materiality assessment, with an emphasis on enhancing transparency and disclosure quality. She has published in Sustainability Accounting, Management and Policy Journal.
