Biography
Haowei (Harvey) is a PhD candidate in accounting at the University of Queensland Business School, supervised by Professor Kathleen Herbohn and Professor Peter Clarkson. His research interests lie at the intersection of corporate disclosure, sustainability reporting and assurance, and corporate social responsibility, with a particular focus on voluntary and non-financial disclosures in capital markets — including how market participants value climate change and sustainability reporting and how disclosures inform stakeholders about corporate performance. His research also encompasses governance and assurance dimensions of corporate disclosure, examining the role of governance mechanisms, voluntary assurance, and regulation in shaping disclosure practices. Beyond core accounting research, he is interested in disclosure issues within sustainable supply chains, including climate risks and emissions.
Harvey's doctoral thesis investigates Australian firms' climate change disclosures and their economic consequences using a self-developed conceptual framework and disclosure index. His work has been accepted at the Illinois International Accounting Symposium PhD Consortium 2024, the Nanyang Business School Accounting Conference 2024, the AFAANZ Doctoral Symposium 2024, and the A-CSEAR Early Career Colloquium 2023. He was competitively selected by Cambridge Judge Business School to participate in the global doctoral programme, Organising the Climate Transition. Harvey serves as an ad hoc reviewer for the Australian Accounting Review, the AAA FARS Midyear Conference 2025, and the AFAANZ Conference 2025.
