Biography
I am Yue (Michael) Zhao, a fifth-year Ph.D. student at School of Accountancy, Singapore Management University (SMU). I will join City University of Hong Kong as an Assistant Professor in Accounting in July 2026.
My research focuses on empirical financial accounting. My recent work aims to understand the economic consequences of Generative AI adoption in corporate and market settings. My research has been accepted by Journal of Accounting and Economics and Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis. I have been studying accounting since 2014, earning my B.A. (2018), M.A. (2020), and Ph.D. (2023) in Accounting from Renmin University of China (RUC), where I received the Wu Yuzhang Scholarship and the National Scholarship. In 2021, I moved to Singapore to pursue my second Ph.D. in Accounting at SMU, where I was awarded the Presidential Fellowship in 2023 and 2024.
